The Benefits Of Clicker Training For Dogs – Squidoo Pets Lens
Clicker training is very interesting. It was originally used in the 1950s to do trick training with dolphins. It is now used with dogs as a form of positive-reinforcement training and it is highly recommended by trainers. The clicker is a small handheld device that makes a clicking sound when you press it. It is used to give your dog precise instructions by telling him he is doing something correctly at the precise moment he does it. This gives your dog an instant reward.
Before you introduce your dog to the clicker you should practice using it until your feel comfortable with the device. Your dog will need to associate the clicker sound with good things. One way to do this is to put the clicker behind your back and have some treats in one hand. When you click, give your dog a treat. Repeating this a few dozen times will definitely give your dog ample time to associate the clicker with a good treat.

I have never heard of clicker training before and find it very interesting. I have a Swedish Vallhund who is now 16 years old and I know that in his younger days he would have enjoyed this type of training
